Privacy Policy

This translation is provided for convenience; the German version is legally binding.

This page explains which personal data we process on this website, why we do so and what rights you have. We deliberately keep processing to a minimum. The key points at a glance:

  • You can use the bodygraph calculator and the knowledge articles without signing up. We do not store your birth data when calculating your chart; only if you create a report or a shareable chart link do we store it for that purpose (sections 5 to 7).
  • An account (“My Charts”) is only created if you buy something or request a sign-in link yourself. It works without a password: you sign in via a link that we send you by e-mail (section 11a).
  • You pay for reports and akarion Plus through our payment provider Stripe. You enter your payment details directly with Stripe; we do not receive them (section 6).
  • Parts of the audiobook and of the video lessons are freely available. The remaining parts are included in akarion Plus; when you open one of them, we use your account sign-in to check whether you have Plus (section 9).
  • We host our Matomo web analytics ourselves. Unless you consent in the statistics notice, Matomo measures without cookies (section 4).
  • Your browser stores your choice of language in the cookie hd_lang. The country used to pre-sort the language flags and to set prices is determined from your IP address on our own server, without a cookie (sections 3 and 6).
  • We do not embed any third-party content; the only exception is Stripe’s payment form, which is not loaded until you are in the ordering process (section 3).
  • You only receive a newsletter if you sign up for it and confirm your subscription yourself (section 8).

2. Hosting and server logs

This website runs on our own server, rented from Hetzner Online GmbH and located in the Helsinki data center (Finland). We use Caddy as the web server.

We keep access logs: for every request the web server records the IP address, date and time, the address requested, the response status, the amount of data transferred, the previously visited page (referrer) and the browser identifier (user agent). We use this data to keep the site secure, to find errors, to detect attacks and automated access (bots, crawlers) and to understand how search engines and AI services retrieve the website. The logs are deleted automatically after 30 days unless they are needed for longer to investigate a specific incident. They are not combined with other data or analyzed with regard to individuals. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and stable operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Hetzner Online GmbH, as the operator of the network and server infrastructure, is technically aware of your IP address; it acts as our processor under Art. 28 GDPR.

3. Cookies

This website sets one strictly necessary session cookie belonging to Joomla, the content management system we use. It has a randomly generated name, contains only a session ID and is deleted at the latest when you close your browser. The website does not work without it; the legal bases are Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act) and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

We only set statistics cookies if you explicitly consent to them in the statistics notice (see section 4). There are no third-party advertising or tracking cookies here. This website embeds no third-party content; all fonts are served from our own server as well (no Google Fonts). The only exception is Stripe’s payment form: it is not loaded until you click “Continue to payment” in the ordering process, and it then comes from Stripe’s servers, which receive your IP address and technical information about your browser (section 6).

Language flags based on browser language and country: At the top right, next to the language of the page, we show the flags of the languages that are likely to suit you — based on your browser’s language settings and on the country you visit the site from; all other languages are behind the globe icon. When you load a page, we determine the country from your IP address on our own server, using the “IP to Country Lite” database by DB-IP (IP Geolocation by DB-IP, license CC BY 4.0); nothing is transmitted to third parties. The result — only the country code, for example “DE” — is used solely to pre-sort the language flags on the page you are viewing. We do not store it and set no cookie for it, and beyond the access logs (section 2) we do not store your IP address for this purpose either. As with other files from this website, your browser may keep the response in its cache for up to one day, so that it does not have to ask again on every page. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in offering you the right language versions directly (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). If you choose a language via a flag, or if we redirect you to the matching version on your first visit based on your browser language, your browser keeps this choice for one year in the cookie hd_lang. It applies only to this website, contains nothing but the language code, and is strictly necessary so that the website respects your choice of language and does not redirect you again on every visit; the legal bases are Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

4. Web analytics with Matomo

So that we can see which pages are being read and what we should improve, we use the open-source software Matomo for audience measurement. We host Matomo ourselves, on our own server at stats.reuther-media.de (also Hetzner, Helsinki data center). The data collected never leaves that server and is not passed on to third parties. Your IP address is truncated before storage and therefore anonymized, so that no conclusions can be drawn about you personally. What is measured: pages viewed, time spent, approximate location, and browser and device type.

If you do not consent, Matomo measures without cookies. The legal basis for this cookie-less measurement is our legitimate interest in designing and improving this website in line with actual demand (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Only if you click OK in the notice “We use a cookie so we can keep improving this website” does Matomo additionally set its own recognition cookies (Matomo’s standard names, beginning with _pk_) so that returning visits can be recognized as such. The legal basis for this is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, Section 25 (1) TDDDG). If you click No, measurement stays cookie-less.

Your choice is stored only in your own browser, in local storage under the entry rmMatomoConsent; it is not transmitted to us. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by deleting this site’s data in your browser — the notice will then appear again.

5. Bodygraph calculator

When you enter your birth data in the bodygraph calculator, your date of birth, time of birth and time zone are transmitted to our calculation interface (/api/chart.php) on the same server and used there solely to calculate your chart. The data is not stored; once the calculation is done, it is discarded. In the web server’s access log (section 2), date of birth, time and time zone are removed from the request before the log entry is written. No user account is created. The legal basis is the performance of the service you requested (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).

Transit calculator: If you enter your birth data on the Transits page, the same data is sent to /api/transite.php — by POST, i.e., not in the address bar — and used there only to calculate your personal transits; it is not stored. The timeline without birth data (/api/transite-range.php) transmits only the selected period.

Place search: The calculator needs your place of birth only to determine the time zone. What you type into the place field is sent to our interface (/api/orte.php). It looks the place up in the city directory of our sister project Astrolix (api.astrolix.de, server in Germany) and passes on only the place name you typed — not your IP address and not your other birth data. Nothing is stored in the process.

Chart as PDF: When you save your chart as a PDF, the same data and — if you enter them — your name and place of birth are sent to /api/chart-pdf.php. The PDF is generated immediately, delivered to you and deleted from the server right away.

6. Detailed report and purchase

If you create a detailed report (or its free summary or preview), we store your date of birth, time of birth and time zone and, if you provide it, your first name. Together with a randomly generated access token, this is saved as an order file on our server. This is necessary so that your report remains available via the token link, as a web page and as a PDF. Anyone who does not know the link cannot access the report.

Payment: The summary and the preview are free. If unlocking the full version is subject to a charge (the price is shown before purchase), payment is processed by our payment provider Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Dublin, Ireland. You enter your payment details (for example card number or IBAN) directly in Stripe’s form; we do not receive them. Stripe passes on to us your e-mail address, the amount paid and payment identifiers; we store these in the order file and in our accounting records. We send the confirmation with your access link to that e-mail address. The legal basis is the performance of the contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR); for retaining invoice data, our legal obligation (Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR, ten years). Stripe also processes data for fraud prevention under its own responsibility; for details, see Stripe’s privacy policy. If you make use of our money-back guarantee, we note the refund (date and amount) in the order file; the refund itself is processed by Stripe. Orders that are not unlocked (summary or preview) are deleted after 30 days.

Summary or preview: Whether you see a summary or a preview of your report is determined by a calculation based on the birth data you entered. We note the version in the order file so we can compare which one is easier to understand (legitimate interest, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Nothing is stored on your device for this purpose; the note is deleted together with the order file.

Prices by country: Our prices are based on the purchasing power of the country you visit the site from. To do this, we determine the country from your IP address — on our own server using the “IP to Country Lite” database by DB-IP (db-ip.com, license CC BY 4.0); no request is sent to third parties. We do not store the IP address itself for this purpose, only the country code (for example “DE”) in the order file. Stripe also tells us the country of your payment method; if it differs from the country determined, we note this in the order. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in fair, regional prices (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

No user account is required for the report. We keep order data until you ask us to delete it or we discontinue the report service; until then your token link keeps working. The legal basis is the performance of the user relationship entered into with you or of your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). To have your report deleted, just send us your token at service@akarion.de and we will delete the order file completely. Orders received by October 14, 2026, will be deleted after 90 days, as announced at the time.

We also count orders for our own internal statistics (for example, the number per week and per language). We do not look at individuals, and no data is passed on. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving our service (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR); you can object to this at any time.

7. Shareable chart links

If you create a link to share your chart in the calculator — or save your chart when signing up for the newsletter — we store a small file on our server. It contains your date of birth, time of birth, time zone, whether the time of birth is unknown, the chosen language, and the type, profile, authority and definition of the chart — no name, no e-mail address and no IP address. It is stored under a random-looking eight-character ID that is calculated from the birth data (for example akarion.de/chart/k7f3q2xz). The chart and a preview image generated from it (for messaging apps and social networks) can be accessed via this link; anyone who knows the link can also open the underlying birth data in the calculator. Search engines are asked not to index these pages (noindex).

The legal basis is your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). We keep the chart link until you ask us to delete it or we discontinue the service; just send us the ID at service@akarion.de. To prevent links from being created in bulk, we count new chart links per IP address for one hour. We do not store the IP address in plain text, only as a check value (a hash with a secret key), and delete it after about an hour (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, protection against misuse).

8. Newsletter

You can subscribe to our newsletter about Human Design. All we need is your e-mail address. We use the double opt-in procedure: after you sign up, we send you an e-mail with a confirmation link; only once you click it do we add you to the mailing list. If you do not confirm, we delete the sign-up after 48 hours.

We store your e-mail address, the language, the time of confirmation, where you signed up (home page, calculator or chart page) and — if you save your chart along with it — the ID of your chart link (see section 7). If you saved your chart, we use it to calculate your personal transits once a week and send them to you by e-mail; without a chart, you receive the general weekly overview. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time: via the unsubscribe link in every newsletter e-mail or with a short message to service@akarion.de. After you unsubscribe, we no longer contact you; we keep a record of the sign-up and the unsubscription so that we can prove your consent and its withdrawal (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). On request we will delete this record completely as well.

We send the e-mails from our own mailbox service@akarion.de at ALL-INKL.COM (see section 11), not via a newsletter service provider; they are plain-text e-mails without tracking pixels. To prevent misuse, we accept at most five sign-ups per hour from one IP address and send at most three confirmation e-mails per day to the same address. For this, the IP address and the e-mail address are only counted as a check value (a hash with a secret key) and deleted after an hour or a day respectively.

9. Audiobook and video lessons

The audiobook (MP3) and the video lessons (MP4) are stored on our own server and are transmitted from there for playback in your browser. Without signing up, you can access part 1 of each and, in addition, the first chapter of every part of the audiobook and the first five minutes of each subsequent video lesson. The remaining parts are included in akarion Plus: if you open one of them, we use the sign-in cookie hd_konto (section 11a) to check whether an active Plus subscription is linked to your account. The legal basis is the performance of the user agreement (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). Apart from this, no processing takes place when you listen or watch; in particular, beyond the access logs (section 2), we do not store who plays what. Links to our YouTube channel are ordinary links: content from YouTube is loaded only when you click one of them.

10. Contact by e-mail

If you write to us at service@akarion.de, we process your e-mail address and the information contained in your message in order to deal with your inquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR). Our mailbox is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM — Neue Medien Münnich, Friedersdorf (Germany), which acts as our processor. We keep your message for as long as it takes to deal with it and delete it afterwards, unless statutory retention obligations apply. There is no contact form on this website.

11. Recipients of your data

We use no processors other than the following two service providers:

  • Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) — hosting of this website and of our Matomo server, Helsinki data center (Finland).
  • ALL-INKL.COM — Neue Medien Münnich, Friedersdorf (Germany) — e-mail mailbox, also used to send the newsletter.

Your data is not transferred to countries outside the EU or the EEA.

If you make a purchase, the payment provider Stripe (section 6) also receives the data needed for the payment.

11a. “My Charts” account

The “My Charts” area uses an account without a password. It is created when you buy something (with the e-mail address used for payment) or when you request a sign-in link yourself. We store your e-mail address, the language, the time of your last sign-in and — while you are signed in — a session identifier in a cookie (“hd_konto”, 90 days, this website only, not readable by scripts). Sign-in links are valid for 30 minutes (or 30 days when included in the e-mail after a purchase) and can be used only once; we store them as a checksum.

In the account you can save charts: a name of your choice, a relationship (for example “family”), date and time of birth, time zone and optionally the place, plus the short chart reading calculated from them. This may also include other people’s data (friends, family) — please save it only if the person agrees. You can delete any chart yourself. The account also shows your purchased reports and the status of an akarion Plus subscription (based on Stripe’s data, see section 6). The legal basis is the performance of the user agreement (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). The account remains until you ask us to delete it (a short e-mail to service@akarion.de); we will then delete the account, sessions and charts completely. Purchased reports remain available via their access link (section 6).

For the cancellation button (“Cancel contracts here”) we process the e-mail address you enter solely to send you the confirmation link.

12. Your rights

You have the right of access to the data stored about you and the right to rectification, to erasure, to restriction of processing and to data portability, as well as a right to object to processing that we base on a legitimate interest. You can withdraw consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. Simply contact us at service@akarion.de.

13. Right to lodge a complaint

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).
