Privacy Policy
This page explains which personal data we process on this website, why we do so and what rights you have. We deliberately keep processing to a minimum: no user account, no newsletter, no shop, no embedded third-party content.

2. Hosting and server logs
This website runs on our own server, rented from Hetzner Online GmbH and located in the Helsinki data centre (Finland). We use Caddy as the web server.
We keep no access logs: the web server is configured not to write any. So there is no record of who called up which page and when. Only system-level error logs may briefly contain information needed for troubleshooting and for warding off attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and stable operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Hetzner Online GmbH, as the operator of the network and server infrastructure, is technically aware of your IP address; it acts for us as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR.
3. Cookies
This website sets one strictly necessary session cookie belonging to Joomla, the content management system we use. It has a randomly generated name, contains only a session ID and is deleted at the latest when you close your browser. The website does not work without it; the legal basis is Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
We only set a further cookie if you explicitly agree to the statistics notice (see section 4). There are no third-party advertising or tracking cookies here. This website embeds no third-party content; all fonts are served from our own server as well (no Google Fonts).
4. Web analytics with Matomo
So that we can see which pages are being read and where we should improve, we use the open-source software Matomo for audience measurement. We host Matomo ourselves, on our own server at stats.reuther-media.de (also Hetzner, Helsinki data centre). The data collected never leaves that server and is not passed on to third parties. Your IP address is truncated before storage and therefore anonymised, so that no conclusions can be drawn about you personally. What is measured: pages viewed, time spent, approximate origin, and browser and device type.
Without your consent, Matomo measures without cookies. The legal basis for this cookie-less measurement is our legitimate interest in designing and improving this website in line with actual demand (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Only if you click Accept in the notice “May we set a statistics
cookie?” does Matomo additionally set its own recognition cookies (Matomo's
standard names, beginning with _pk_) so that returning visits can
be recognised as such. The legal basis for this is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a)
GDPR, Section 25 (1) TDDDG). If you click No thanks, measurement stays
cookie-less.
Your choice is remembered by your own browser only, in local storage under
the entry rmMatomoConsent; it is not transmitted to us. You can
withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by deleting this
site's website data in your browser — the notice will then appear again.
5. Bodygraph calculator
When you enter your birth data in the
bodygraph calculator, your date of birth, time of
birth and time zone are transmitted to our calculation interface
(/api/chart.php) on the same server and used there solely to
calculate your chart. The data is not stored and not logged;
once the calculation is done it is gone. No user account is created. The legal
basis is the performance of the service you requested (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).
6. Detailed report
If you order a detailed report — currently free of charge and without any payment process — we store your date of birth, time of birth and time zone and, if you provide it, your first name. Together with a randomly generated access token, this is saved as an order file on our server. That is necessary so that your report remains available under the token link, as a web page and as a PDF. Anyone who does not know the link cannot reach the report.
No user account is required and we do not ask for an e-mail address. Order data is deleted automatically after 90 days; the token link then stops working. The legal basis is the performance of the requested service (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). If you would like your report deleted sooner, just send us your token at service@akarion.de.
7. Audiobook, e-book and other downloads
The audiobook files (MP3) and the e-book editions (EPUB, PDF) are stored directly on our server and can be retrieved without signing up. Listening or downloading involves no processing beyond the session cookie described in section 3 — in particular, we do not log who downloads what.
8. Contact by e-mail
If you write to us at service@akarion.de, we process your e-mail address and the information contained in your message in order to deal with your enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR). Our mailbox is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM — Neue Medien Münnich, Friedersdorf (Germany), acting as a processor for us. We keep your message for as long as it takes to deal with it and delete it afterwards, unless statutory retention obligations apply. There is no contact form on this website.
9. Recipients of your data
Apart from the following two service providers we use no processors:
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) — hosting of this website and of our Matomo server, Helsinki data centre (Finland).
- ALL-INKL.COM — Neue Medien Münnich, Friedersdorf (Germany) — e-mail mailbox.
Your data is not transferred to countries outside the EU or the EEA.
10. Your rights
You have the right to information about the data stored about you, to rectification, to erasure, to restriction of processing and to data portability, as well as a right to object to processing that we base on a legitimate interest. You can withdraw consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. Simply contact us at service@akarion.de.
11. Right to lodge a complaint
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).
