Gate 6 belongs to the Solar Plexus, the emotional center. In the system, it works like a membrane: it regulates when real closeness arises and when distance is maintained. The I Ching hexagram "Conflict" hints that friction also arises at this boundary — conflict here is not an accident but part of the process in which people negotiate how much intimacy feels right at the moment. Friction generates warmth, and warmth can connect when its timing is right.
When the gate is activated
With Gate 6 activated, your feelings decide in waves when you open up: today closeness can feel right, tomorrow you need distance — both are valid. Many people find that in relationships they set the pace for commitment without consciously steering it.
