Gate 29 — Commitment
A yes that truly holds — through effort, repetition, and dry spells: Human Design describes this power of full commitment with Gate 29.

What it is about
Gate 29 sits in the Sacral Center, the source of enduring life energy. In the system it is the gate of giving yourself over to something: when a yes falls here, the Sacral provides the energy to carry a thing all the way through. The I Ching hexagram “The Abysmal” describes water that keeps flowing undeterred, even through ravines — an image of perseverance that comes not from stubbornness but from devotion. That is exactly why the decisive question of this gate is not “Can I do this?” but “Is this my yes?”
When the gate is activated
With Gate 29 activated, you have the rare ability to commit to something completely — a relationship, a project, a practice. Your commitment is worth gold; it only needs mindful handling of the yes itself. A yes given out of duty or politeness binds the same enormous energy as a genuine one — just without the joy. Many people with this gate therefore learn to pause briefly before agreeing and feel for their own sacral response. As a hanging gate, Gate 29 seeks its partner, Gate 46, in the G Center, the gate of love for the body and of good fortune in the right place. People with Gate 46 therefore often feel especially attractive — a complement: through them, your endurance gains lightness and direction.
In everyday life
An example: at the sports club someone asks who will organize the summer festival. Everyone looks at the floor — and you notice a clear, warm yes rising inside you. Then take it on: you will see it through where others would long since have dropped out. If, instead, only a tired “oh, all right” rises, a friendly no is the more honest answer. Your yes is too valuable to give away.
